Director/Performer

Born and raised in Georgia, Dana Merwin is a multi disciplinary Bay Area artist. With influences in improv and clown, she brings ideas to life that connect directly with an audience.

As a performer she has written and toured two clown shows, The Skinny Show and Thinking Out Loud. Through these shows, a constant question for Dana is - “How do we help each other in the tough times?”

She has produced and hosted original comedy shows including Night School at Endgames Improv, Pie Town at All Out Comedy Theater and The Ballad of Mrs. Claus - a variety show that tells the untold story of a holiday hero. Dana has performed with ensembles at SF Sketchfest, Oregon Country Fair, Sh’bang Festival, Lyon Comedy Festival and SXSW.

As a film and video producer, Dana has worked with Bob Odenkirk, Doug Pray, Laura Gabbert and organizations including Sundance and the International Documentary Association.

She is the co-founder of the Oakland creative space, NewNow where she hosts educational and performance events. She teaches improv and clown workshops for both performers and non-performers. Using her multi-disciplinary background, Dana consults for performers, filmmakers and creatives.
